I-SMarD Kick-Off Meeting
The kick-off meeting for the I-SMarD project was held on 19th April 2021. The meeting, held on-line due to the continuing COVID pandemic, consisted of a full, intensive day of presentations and discussion of objectives and planning activities for the first 6-months. The Project Adviser (Officer), Nerea Bilbao Bustinza, of the Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA), was also in attendance.
The science and technical aspects of the project were discussed, including the overall objectives of I-SMarD and our philosophy for the medical devices of the future (smart and multifunctional, sustainable manufacturing). This was followed by discussion of exploitation, dissemination and stakeholder engagement; project management, coordination and technical management; and, ethical aspects.
Main considerations included:
- Are the project starting points and first targets still correct?
- What are the challenges?
- How will the work be addressed?
- What can be physically done in the first six months of the project in the current COVID-19 situation, how to tasks need to be amended and what are the mitigations?
There was fruitful dialogue between the Consortium but all are looking forward to the day when the Consortium can finally
meet face-to-face.
